Sports fans residing in Metro Manila would have to wait a little longer anew as contact sports were prohibited under Alert Level 3.
This as the government placed Metro Manila under Alert Level 3 from January 3 to 15, 2022 due to the surge of cases and the threat brought by the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

Affected mainly is the PBA just when the league began hosting games at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City with limited audience.
Spectators were allowed as long as they are fully vaccinated along with proof such as government ID.
The PBA earlier also released its schedule for the first half of January with the supposed comeback of the games at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

League officials have yet to make a further announcement following the recent development.
Under Alert Level 3, bubble-type setups are still allowed with the adopted guidelines by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF), the Games and Amusement Board, and the Philippine Sports Commission and the approval of the local government unit.
As of this writing, the Philippines currently has 10 confirmed Omicron variant cases.
